The musical production of The Who’s Tommy has launched a National Tour, which kicked off on October 6 at the Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio. The show will tour to cities all over North America, with dates currently scheduled through June 2027.
Pete Townshend and director Des McAnuff's modern revival of their 1993 Tony award-winning Broadway musical was first staged at Chicago's Goodman Theatre in 2023, which featured Ali Louis Bourzgui in the lead role of Tommy. That run of sold out shows broke records as the highest grossing production in the theater's history and received nine Joseph Jefferson Awards. Pete attended the final performances and joined the cast and Des McAnuff on stage at the end of the shows.
The new production of Tommy moved to Broadway the following year, playing 152 shows at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City. The show was very successful, receiving rave reviews and a Grammy nomination for Best Revival of a Musical in 2024. Pete appeared on the Tonight Show and CBS Sunday Morning to promote the Broadway shows, and joined Des and the cast on stage for opening night.
The Who's Tommy National Tour is produced by Work Light Productions and has a new cast that features Collin Matthew Flanagan as Tommy Walker, Zach Fogel as Captain Walker, Mia Bergstrom as Mrs. Walker, Peyton Cassity as Uncle Ernie, Kyle McFalls as Cousin Kevin, Kris Lyons as Acid Queen, Audrey Fisher as Sally Simpson, and Mari Grossmann as Little Tommy.
Tickets for many of the shows are on sale now, so be sure to check it out if they are coming to your town!
